The study session will investigate the brainwaves of children as they process language. Soft recording sensors will be placed on your child's head as he or she hears audio recordings of words and watches cartoons. The small sensors are embedded in a cap that is similar to a loose nylon swim cap.
During the task your child's brainwave responses will be recorded. The procedure is completely non-invasive and can be completed in an hour. All identifying information is completely confidential. Data are processed and discussed at a group level.
This procedure can take place during the school day, weekend, or evening when you can come in with your child.

Sure! There are several other laboratories in the psychology department doing projects with children, so it may be possible for all of your children to participate in several studies! We also can arrange to have a trained research assistant on hand to look after your child during your visit. If possible, let us know in advance if you will be bringing other children, and we will be happy to make appropriate arrangements.
