Doctoral Program
The Doctoral programs in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences offer interdisciplinary preparation in basic and applied aspects of Cognition and Neuroscience, Psychological Sciences, or Communication Sciences and Disorders. The faculty includes specialists in audiology, communication sciences, communication disorders, cognitive psychology, cognitive science, developmental psychology, and neuroscience. Core and specialized courses, in conjunction with several types of research apprenticeships, provide a strong foundation for establishing an independent program of research at the pre-doctoral and post-doctoral level.
The Ph.D. programs have a basic set of degree requirements. Research training is a central part of the doctoral program at UTD. Students are strongly encouraged to begin their association with a Faculty Research Advisor as soon as possible after entering the program. The curriculum plan is designed so that students can complete the program in approximately 4-5 years.
The School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences also offers a doctoral program in Audiology (Au.D.). The Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree offers broad-based professional preparation in audiology within an environment that supports an active program of clinical services and research. Students are provided comprehensive exposure to clinical approaches in communication disorders and to the scientific foundations from which clinical approaches are derived. Practical experience is available in a variety of clinical, educational, and medical settings.
Students may choose to pursue one of the following degrees:
