Students seeking clinical certification (CCC) in speech-language pathology in addition to the Ph.D. may combine their masters and doctoral program. An individualized plan of study allows students to earn the M.S. degree in Communication Disorders while meeting requirements for the Ph.D. degree. In addition, students may choose to combine Ph.D. study with master’s work in Human Development and Early Childhood Disorders, Applied Cognition and Neuroscience, or with the clinical doctorate in Audiology.
Students may also opt to complete a combined Masters and Doctoral degree in the Masters Program in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience and PhD Program in Cognition and Neuroscience. Applicants must indicate their interest in the combined program in their application narrative. Masters and doctoral admission are considered by separate admissions committees and admission to one degree program does not assure admission to the other. Students admitted to the combined program follow an individualized plan of study which, in most cases, includes concurrent enrollment in masters and doctoral courses. Because some doctoral courses may be used to meet masters requirements and vice versa, the combined program offers an efficient alternative to enrollment in two degree plans simultaneously.
