The Cognitive Science program at UT Dallas provided me with an abundance of valuable research experience! The opportunities available in child learning and development are so diverse that they allow students to branch out into a variety of fields. My involvement in a research lab was made available to me because two of my professors took a personal interest in my academic experience and told me that I should consider working in the lab. The experience I gained in being in the lab will be invaluable to me when I begin teaching in August as a fourth-grade teacher at Jerry R Junkins Elementary School in Dallas ISD. Starting this summer, I will also begin taking courses towards my master of education degree, with specialties in STEM and early literacy.
